Iran weightlifting legend Nassiri hospitalized

TEHRAN – Iran’s weightlifting legend Mohammad Nassiri was hospitalized at a hospital in Tehran due to a brain stroke.

According to the weightlifting federation, he will be released on Thursday.

Nassiri competed at three Olympic Games and claimed three medals. He snatched a gold medal in the1968 Mexico City as well as a silver and a bronze medal in 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal, respectively.

Nassiri also won five gold medals in world championship as well as one silver and three bronzes.
