He asserted\u00a0that the Syrian people hold the exclusive right to decide their fate free from foreign interference.<\/p>\n
Terrorist groups, led by HTS, took control of Damascus on December 8 and declared an end to Assad\u2019s rule in a surprise offensive that was launched from their stronghold in northwestern Syria, reaching the capital in less than two weeks.<\/p>\n
The HTS terrorist group, supported by the US and its regional allies,\u00a0has promised to\u00a0form an inclusive government\u00a0but the United Nations says the situation remains \u201cfluid.\u201d<\/p>\n
Regional countries have urged Syrians to work\u00a0to avert a spiral into chaos\u00a0after the HTS\u00a0stormed and captured the capital Damascus.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Syria\u2019s stability and future are threatened by various factors, including Israel\u2019s illegal occupation of the Syrian territory, driven by its expansionist policies, and the persistent presence of the so-called\u00a0Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which are backed by the US,\u00a0in the country\u2019s northeast.<\/p>\n
Additional challenges stem from the perpetration of human rights violations against minority groups by HTS terrorists, as well as escalating humanitarian crises.<\/p>\n
