Speaking in a ceremony held at Grand Mosalla Mosque of Tehran to mark the 5th martyrdom anniversary of martyr Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the US in Iraq on January 3, 2020, Pezeshkian stated that the enemy is seeking to sow seeds of discord in the country so all noble nation of Islamic Iran should strive to frustrate enemy and foil its malicious plots and conspiracies.<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian said that Martyr Soleimani\u2019s path serves as a perpetual model for \u201cthe path we should take\u201d as he practiced piety and \u201cspent his entire life defending the oppressed and serving people.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe stood up to defend the oppressed in every corner of the world, including in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan, regardless of people\u2019s religion, personal taste, and views,\u201d the president added, describing the martyred commander as a symbol of honor for the Iranian nation and Muslims across the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian also said that General Soleimani was never involved in political issues and focused all of his efforts on creating unity among Islamic countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Through adhering to Islamic and humanitarian principles, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani created a model of sacrifice, courage and commitment, which \u201cwe should always be proud of\u201d, he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The president said that Martyr Soleimani is a prominent figure outside Iran as well, with all freedom-seeking people across the world being eager to continue his path five years after his martyrdom. His prominence is because of the fact that General Soleimani had put aside selfishness and egocentrism, he noted.<\/p>\n
Further in his remarks, the president referred to enemies\u2019 attempts to create division among Muslims to progress their \u201cmalicious goals\u201d, saying \u201c that itt is our duty to make utmost efforts to foil these schemes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian also warned about enemies\u2019 plots to create division inside Iran, saying that officials and people should closely cooperate in order to foil those plots and remain united.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition to unity, people and officials should also support policies announced by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in order to become successful and emerge victorious, the president added.<\/p>\n
