TEHRAN \u2013 Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has intensified diplomatic efforts to counter a \u201cdangerous American-Zionist plot\u201d to forcibly displace Gazans, warning that such plans amount to ethnic cleansing and genocide.<\/p>\n
In a series of phone calls with United Nations Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha, and foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Gambia, Araghchi urged swift international action to block Israel\u2019s \u201ccolonialist agenda\u201d and protect Palestinian rights. \u00a0<\/p>\n
During his call with the UN chief on Monday, Araghchi condemned American proposals to relocate Gazans as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe forced displacement of Palestinians is not only illegal\u2014it is the culmination of Israel\u2019s decades-long project to erase Palestine through genocide,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
The Iranian official called for the Security Council to adopt a \u201cclear and decisive stance\u201d against the plan, which he warned threatens global peace. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Guterres echoed concerns over Israel\u2019s humanitarian law violations, stating, \u201cThe United Nations unequivocally rejects any proposal involving the forced transfer of Palestinian civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n
He emphasized prioritizing aid delivery and reconstruction in Gaza, pledging to \u201cspare no effort\u201d in mobilizing humanitarian support.<\/p>\n
Egypt backs Iran\u2019s call for unified Islamic response<\/strong><\/p>\n In discussions with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Sunday, Araghchi described the displacement scheme as part of a broader \u201ccolonial erasure\u201d of Palestine.<\/p>\n \u201cThis conspiracy gravely endangers regional stability,\u201d he said, applauding Cairo\u2019s support for Palestinian rights.<\/p>\n Araghchi also criticized U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s recent Gaza proposal, noting that it has faced \u201cfirm opposition\u201d globally, and urged Islamic nations to adopt a cohesive strategy.<\/p>\n Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt\u2019s diplomatic efforts to broker ceasefires and rebuild Gaza, labeling forced relocation as \u201cunacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n He welcomed Iran\u2019s push for an emergency OIC ministerial meeting, stressing the need for \u201cextensive consultations\u201d among Muslim-majority states. \u00a0<\/p>\n Additionally, on Sunday, Araghchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan agreed on the urgency of countering displacement plans, which the Iranian official described as \u201ca continuation of genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n Both officials emphasized strengthening bilateral ties, with Araghchi praising recent political consultations as \u201cproductive.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n Fidan endorsed Iran\u2019s proposal for an urgent OIC session, stating, \u201cAll Islamic nations must stand united in defending Palestinian rights.\u201d<\/p>\n He further highlighted Ankara\u2019s commitment to expanding cooperation with Tehran across mutual interests.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
