TEHRAN \u2013 In an address delivered Wednesday in Bushehr, southern Iran, President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran\u2019s commitment to peaceful relations while defiantly rejecting foreign coercion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe seek conflict with no nation,\u201d he declared, stressing Tehran\u2019s pursuit of \u201cfraternal ties with all neighbors,\u201d whom he called \u201cbrothers, sisters, and partners in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian\u2019s remarks included a sharp condemnation of U.S. policies, particularly targeting President Donald Trump\u2019s provocative characterization of Iran and accusations of regional destabilization.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is the U.S. that sows chaos by arming Israel to massacre Palestinians in Gaza,\u201d he asserted, denouncing Washington\u2019s decades-long military support for the Tel Aviv regime.<\/p>\n
The president also criticized U.S. demands for Iran to limit its defense capabilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey demand we abandon our missiles so Israel can bomb us without consequence, just as it devastated Gaza,\u201d he argued, adding such pressure is a threat to Iran\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian further lambasted Washington\u2019s contradictory stance on diplomacy.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that the U.S. has \u201cshut every door to talks\u201d through punitive sanctions intended to \u201cstrangle Iran\u2019s resilience.\u201d<\/p>\n
The president questioned the sincerity of U.S. overtures: \u201cIf America truly wants negotiations, why does it sabotage every opportunity for peace?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBy what right do they occupy our region, assassinate our people, and then preach to us about security?\u201d Pezeshkian added, condemning Washington\u2019s \u201chypocritical\u201d portrayal of Iran as a menace. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The speech followed Trump\u2019s recent signing of a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM) reinstating the \u201cmaximum pressure\u201d campaign against Tehran, which seeks to intensify economic sanctions and halt Iran\u2019s oil exports.<\/p>\n
Trump accompanied the move with a warning that any retaliation or threat against him would result in Iran being \u201cobliterated.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n
A few days later, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei rejected negotiations with the U.S., calling such talks \u201cneither prudent, wise, nor honorable\u201d given Trump\u2019s confrontational approach and Iran\u2019s past experiences.<\/p>\n
He also highlighted Washington\u2019s history of reneging on agreements, notably its 2018 withdrawal from the JCPOA nuclear deal, which exacerbated regional tensions.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur strength lies not in submission, but in dignity and self-reliance,\u201d Pezeshkian remarked.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
