{"id":25030,"date":"2025-02-12T22:46:55","date_gmt":"2025-02-12T19:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.hamsonews.com\/iran-urges-un-action-against-trumps-reckless-war-rhetoric\/"},"modified":"2025-02-12T22:46:55","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T19:16:55","slug":"iran-urges-un-action-against-trumps-reckless-war-rhetoric","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hamsonews.com\/en\/iran-urges-un-action-against-trumps-reckless-war-rhetoric\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran urges UN action against Trump&#039;s \u201creckless\u201d war rhetoric"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en.hamsonews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/5377363.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p class=\"summary\">TEHRAN \u2013 Iran has strongly denounced former U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s recent remarks threatening the use of force against the country, calling them \u201cdeeply alarming and irresponsible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, voiced Tehran\u2019s concerns in a formal letter addressed to UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres and the President of the Security Council on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">In the letter, Iravani noted Trump\u2019s flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter with his inflammatory statements. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\u201cFollowing instructions from my government, I am writing to bring to the Security Council\u2019s attention the deeply troubling and irresponsible remarks made by the former President of the United States, in which he openly threatened the use of force against the Islamic Republic of Iran,\u201d Iravani stated. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Trump\u2019s remarks were made during a media interview published by the New York Post on Saturday, where he said he would prefer to have Iran ink a deal he wants rather than launch military strikes on the country. \u201cI would like a deal done with Iran on non-nuclear [issues]. I would prefer that to bombing the hell out of it,\u201d Trump said. \u201cThey don\u2019t want to die. Nobody wants to die,\u201d he stated, suggesting that Iranians should either cave in and accept his demands or get killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">In a separate interview with Fox News on Monday, he reiterated this aggressive stance, stating, \u201cI would like to make a deal without bombing them.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Iran has strongly pushed back against Trump\u2019s rhetoric, with Iravani emphasizing that such threats blatantly contravene Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force or the threat thereof against sovereign nations. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\u201cThe U.S. president\u2019s reckless and inflammatory statements constitute a clear violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter,\u201d the Iranian diplomat asserted. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Iravani also took aim at Trump\u2019s broader policy toward Iran, condemning the so-called \u201cmaximum pressure\u201d strategy as an unlawful and hostile measure. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\u201cThis provocation is further exacerbated by the so-called \u2018maximum pressure\u2019 policy, as outlined in the National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM) of February 4, 2025. These unilateral coercive measures not only escalate hostility against Iran but also blatantly violate fundamental principles and norms of international law,\u201d Iravani stated. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">He urged the UN Security Council to take a firm stance against such threats, warning that allowing such rhetoric to go unchecked would set a dangerous precedent. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\u201cThe Islamic Republic of Iran firmly rejects and condemns this reckless threat. The UN Security Council must not remain silent in the face of such brazen rhetoric. Normalizing threats of force undermines international peace and security and must be unequivocally condemned,\u201d he said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\u201cIran will resolutely defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests against any form of aggression,\u201d he asserted. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Trump\u2019s recent comments came just days after he signed a presidential memorandum seeking to reduce Iran\u2019s oil exports to \u201czero\u201d.
