Not the same tired ideas of the past, but something that&#8217;s bold and something that, frankly, took courage and vision in order to outline. And it may have shocked and surprised many, but what cannot continue is the same cycle we&#8217;ll repeat over and over again and wind up in the exact same place,&#8221; Rubio said during the meeting with Netanyahu.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Trump floated the idea during a joint press conference alongside the visiting Israeli premier on February 4 in the Ovall Office, saying,\u00a0\u201cThe US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><cite class=\"quote-t7\"><strong>Londoners march to the US embassy in the British capital to denounce Trump\u2019s controversial proposal for the Gaza Strip<\/strong><\/cite>Later, the US president also said that he is \u201ccommitted to buying and owning Gaza.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">During a meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan in the White House on Tuesday, he doubled down on his proposal. \u201cWe\u2019re going to take it. We\u2019re going to hold it,\u201d he told journalists.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Trump also responded with a dismissive attitude to a question on whether he would consider purchasing Gaza as part of his takeover plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\u201cWe\u2019re not going to buy. There\u2019s nothing to buy. We will have Gaza. No reason to buy. It\u2019s Gaza. It\u2019s a war-torn area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Trump has stressed that Palestinians in Gaza should leave the territory, which experts say would amount to ethnic cleansing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">According to the US president, the proposal aims to transform the coastal area into the &#8220;Riviera of the Middle East.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The former real estate mogul-turned-president has\u00a0exerted pressure on regional countries, in particular Jordan and Egypt, to embrace a forced removal.\u00a0Both Cairo and Amman have dismissed the suggestion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Some other regional countries, including Saudi Arabia as well as Washington\u2019s Western allies have criticized Trump\u2019s proposal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Protests have also emerged worldwide in opposition to this action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">On Saturday, pro-Palestine protesters marched through central London to denounce Trump\u2019s proposal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Waving Palestinian flags and holding placards that read \u201chands off Gaza,\u201d the protesters marched to the US embassy located in Nine Elms, southwest London.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Demonstrators displayed signs that stated, \u201cStand up to Trump\u201d and \u201cMr Trump, Canada is not your 51st state.
