TEHRAN \u2013 According to the latest report by Oxford Insights index, which measures government readiness for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in public services, Iran ranks 91st among 188 countries, moving up three positions compared to 94th in 2023.<\/p>\n
AI has a key role to play \u2013not just in governing the technology, but in helping governments perform better.<\/p>\n
The Government AI Readiness Index has become a trusted resource for policymakers, adopted as an official benchmark by national governments.<\/p>\n
In this year\u2019s edition, the AI readiness of\u00a0188 countries\u00a0at a time of growing complexity, where governments face evolving citizen needs and challenges like economic uncertainty, climate risks, and rising inequalities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 2024 index examines\u00a040 indicators across three pillars: Government, Technology Sector, and Data & Infrastructure. It highlights progress, identifies gaps, and provides actionable insights for policymakers working to integrate AI into public service delivery.<\/p>\n
At its core, the index asks \u2018how ready are governments to implement AI in the delivery of public services?\u2019\u00a0By answering this question, it aims to offer a practical tool that supports evidence-based decision-making and helps policymakers unlock AI\u2019s potential to serve citizens better worldwide.<\/p>\n
According to the index, the country\u2019s best ranking is in the Data and Infrastructure pillar, 66.29 which has improved compared to 55.88 last year. It includes infrastructure (70), data availability (43), and data representativeness (121) indicators.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The country\u2019s score in the Technology pillar is 38.82, it was 38.77 in 2023. It includes human capital (54), innovation capacity (62), and maturity (82) indicators.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s lowest score is in the Government pillar, 26.54, which has decreased compared to 31.56 in 2023. It includes vision (84), governance and ethics (145), digital capacity (92), and adaptability (177).<\/p>\n
According to this year\u2019s report, Iran\u2019s ranking in the region has improved by one position, rising from 17 in 2023 to 16 in 2024. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The top ten countries are the United States, Singapore, South Korea, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, and Australia.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s first AI park to be set up in two years<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The first artificial intelligence (AI) park in the country is planned to be established in Tehran by the next two years, an official with the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy has said.<\/p>\n The main objective of the plan is to showcase the technological developments of the country and provide practical AI-related services to the people, Mehr news agency quoted Mojtaba Alizadeh as saying.<\/p>\n These services cover a wide range of fields such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and demos of Iran\u2019s national AI Platform, he added.<\/p>\n The official went on to say that part of the AI processing infrastructure will be placed in the national AI park. People as well as researchers who need the infrastructure to conduct their research will benefit from the AI park services.<\/p>\n Currently, government bodies, big corporations, and companies are working together to develop the park, Alizadeh further noted.<\/p>\n MT\/MG
