TEHRAN \u2013 In a provocative interview with Politico on Wednesday, the Israeli regime\u2019s Foreign Minister Gidon Sa\u2019ar accused Iran of advancing its nuclear program to a \u201cdangerous\u201d threshold, hinting that \u201cmilitary action\u201d might be required.<\/p>\n
Sa\u2019ar alleged that Iran has enriched uranium sufficient for “a couple of bombs” and is actively “playing with ways” to develop nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n
“So, we don\u2019t have much time,” he said, before claiming that diplomatic efforts were unlikely to succeed, with the odds of a peaceful resolution “not huge.”<\/p>\n
He stressed the importance of a “reliable military option” to curb Iran\u2019s alleged ambitions, cautioning that failure to act could spark a “nuclear race in the Middle East [West Asia] with Egypt, Saudis, Turkey.”<\/p>\n
Sa\u2019ar also accused Iran of smuggling arms into the West Bank through Jordan to \u201cdestabilize\u201d the area.<\/p>\n
His remarks appear to align with the \u201cdeclared promise\u201d of his convicted war criminal boss, Benjamin Netanyahu, to “finish the job” of obstructing Iran’s nuclear pursuits with U.S. President Donald Trump’s assistance.<\/p>\n
Shortly after taking office for the second time, Trump signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM).<\/p>\n
The NSPM reinstated the “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran and rolled out plans to further straddle the country\u2019s economy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While it lacked explicit orders, the directive is expected to encourage more sanctions on shipping, insurance, and port sectors. The U.S. might also try to slash Iran\u2019s oil revenue by threatening its customers.<\/p>\n
In an interview following signing the directive, Trump claimed to profess a preference for negotiating with Iran rather than “bombing the hell out of it.”<\/p>\n
His chief security adviser, Mike Waltz, has more recently repeated the old overused U.S. mantra that “all options are on the table”, insisting that Washington will accept nothing short of completely dismantling Tehran’s nuclear capability.<\/p>\n
Iranian officials have repeatedly condemned Israeli officials\u2019 remarks as unfounded and inflammatory, noting them as a tactic to deflect attention from the regime\u2019s own destabilizing actions in the region.<\/p>\n
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking at the United Nations Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, turned the spotlight on Israel\u2019s undeclared nuclear arsenal, criticizing its refusal to join international disarmament agreements.<\/p>\n
Araghchi pointed out that Israel\u2019s rejection of treaties like the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)\u2014to which Iran remains a signatory\u2014combined with its aggressive policies, constitutes the true threat to peace.<\/p>\n
He reiterated Iran\u2019s longstanding call for a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in West Asia, a proposal first put forward by Tehran in 1974, which Tel Aviv has consistently blocked.<\/p>\n
Similarly, Iran\u2019s UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani dismissed the Israeli regime\u2019s accusations as baseless during a special session of the UN General Assembly in a formal letter to the UN Secretary-General and the Assembly President.<\/p>\n
“The Islamic Republic of Iran explicitly and firmly rejects such baseless claims, which serve no purpose other than to divert the international community\u2019s attention from the horrific crimes committed by this apartheid regime against the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip,” Iravani wrote.<\/p>\n
