{"id":36285,"date":"2025-10-18T16:39:33","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T13:09:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.hamsonews.com\/zelensky-fails-to-secure-tomahawk-missiles-at-talks-with-trump\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T16:39:33","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T13:09:33","slug":"zelensky-fails-to-secure-tomahawk-missiles-at-talks-with-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hamsonews.com\/en\/zelensky-fails-to-secure-tomahawk-missiles-at-talks-with-trump\/","title":{"rendered":"Zelensky fails to secure Tomahawk missiles at talks with Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en.hamsonews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/5730376.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p class=\"summary\">President Volodymyr Zelensky appears to have come away empty-handed from a White House meeting after US President Donald Trump indicated he was not ready to supply sought-after Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, the BBC reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Zelensky said after the cordial bilateral talks that he and Trump had talked about long-range missiles, but decided not to make statements on the issue &#8220;because the United States does not want an escalation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Following the meeting, Trump took to social media to call for Kyiv and Moscow to &#8220;stop where they are&#8221; and end the war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The Trump-Zelensky meeting came a day after Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone and agreed to meet him in Hungary soon.<br \/> Zelensky believes using Tomahawks to strike at Russian oil and energy facilities would severely weaken Putin&#8217;s war economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">While Trump did not rule it out, his tone at the White House on Friday was non-committal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&#8220;Hopefully they won&#8217;t need it, hopefully we&#8217;ll be able to get the war over without thinking about Tomahawks,&#8221; the US president said, adding: &#8220;I think we&#8217;re fairly close to that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">He described the weapons as &#8220;a big deal&#8221; and said that the US needed them for its own defense.
