TEHRAN \u2013 The Iranian and British ambassadors to Iraq sat down for a meeting in the capital Baghdad to discuss the escalating tensions in West Asia, spurred by over a year of unchecked Israeli violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Iran\u2019s ambassador to Baghdad, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadeq, welcomed his British counterpart, Stephen Charles Hitchen. The two diplomats met to explore potential avenues for cooperation and dialogue between their respective countries\u00a0to promote peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Al-Sadeq highlighted the ongoing violence and aggression perpetrated by the Israeli regime in the region, cautioning that a broader conflict could ensue if Western nations do not rein in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Al-Sadeq also condemned the actions of Western countries in supplying arms to Israel, arguing that their support for the regime contradicts their professed commitment to human rights, peace, and stability in West Asia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Iranian ambassador reiterated his country\u2019s desire for peace and stability in the region while asserting that Iran would defend itself against any acts of aggression, referencing the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military installations on October 26.<\/p>\n
The British Ambassador to Iraq reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s dedication to \u201cfostering peace and stability\u201d in West Asia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hitchen also highlighted the significance of transparent dialogue and collaboration among regional powers to tackle the diverse challenges confronting the area.<\/p>\n
