{"id":4438,"date":"2024-11-02T17:42:06","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T14:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.hamsonews.com\/nahavand-aims-to-join-unesco-creative-cities-network\/"},"modified":"2024-11-02T17:42:06","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T14:12:06","slug":"nahavand-aims-to-join-unesco-creative-cities-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hamsonews.com\/en\/nahavand-aims-to-join-unesco-creative-cities-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Nahavand aims to join UNESCO Creative Cities Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.tehrantimes.com\/d\/t\/2024\/11\/02\/4\/5231737.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p class=\"summary\">TEHRAN &#8211; With the recent opening of the National Creative Cities Institute\u2019s office in Nahavand, the Iranian city is moving closer to securing a spot among UNESCO\u2019s Creative Cities.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the inauguration event on Saturday, Kamran Rahmati-Shadbad, the Institute\u2019s CEO, expressed optimism about Nahavand becoming Iran\u2019s sixth UNESCO Creative City, highlighting the city\u2019s rich cultural and economic resources.<\/p>\n<p>Rahmati-Shadbad called on local officials to promote Nahavand\u2019s strengths in tourism, handicrafts, food industries, and historical sites to sponsor its creative city status.<\/p>\n<p>He outlined four essential pillars of a UNESCO Creative City: creativity, knowledge, creative industries, and a knowledge-based economy.<\/p>\n<p>A truly creative city, he emphasized, fosters an environment for artists, researchers, and specialists across various fields to thrive and contribute to a better quality of life.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, five Iranian cities hold UNESCO Creative City designations: Isfahan and Bandar Abbas for crafts, Kermanshah and Rasht for cuisine, and Sanandaj for music.<\/p>\n<p>Nahavand, located in the southwest of Hamedan province at an altitude of 1,661 meters, is the province\u2019s third-largest city and boasts a rich history, cultural heritage, and a thriving economy based on agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, and rug weaving.<\/p>\n<p>Experts believe that Nahavand with its historical significance and cultural diversity has positioned itself as a promising candidate for UNESCO\u2019s network.<\/p>\n<p>The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development.<\/p>\n<p>The 350 cities around the world that currently make up this network work together towards a common objective: placing creativity and cultural industries at the heart of their development plans at the local level and cooperating actively at the international level.<\/p>\n<p>AM<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tehrantimes.com\/news\/505774\/Nahavand-aims-to-join-UNESCO-Creative-Cities-Network\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN &#8211; With the recent opening of the National Creative Cities Institute\u2019s office in Nahavand, the Iranian city is moving closer to securing a spot among UNESCO\u2019s Creative Cities.
