TEHRAN-The Iranian short film \u201cNight Repair\u201d written and directed by Ebrahim Poshtkoohi has received an award at the 2nd International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival in Turkey.<\/p>\n
\u201cNight Repair\u201d won the 2nd Best Film award in the international category of the festival, which was held last week in Diyarbak\u0131r, the largest Kurdish-majority city in Turkey, Honaronline reported.<\/p>\n
The 17-minute mystery neo-noir film shows a couple who returns home from a party on a foggy night and finds out that the lock on the door of their house has been changed and an old woman claims to be the owner of the house.<\/p>\n
Gata Abedi, Yashar Naderi, Mohammad Hamzezadeh, Davar Farmani, Nader Mahdilou, Tuba Pakestani, Ghafoor Maleki, Behrouz Rahimi, Nemat Kohandel, and Nikan Ranjbar are in the cast.<\/p>\n
Although \u201cNight Repair\u201d is Poshtkoohi\u2019s directorial debut in cinema, he is a renowned theater director, having directed more than 10 plays. His show \u201cMacbeth Zar\u201d has been performed in several countries and won some awards including the grand prize of the 4th Baghdad International Theater Festival.<\/p>\n
The play is a combination of Shakespeare’s \u201cMacbeth\u201d with \u201cZar\u201d ritual and it has inspired by methods of Kabuki (Japan), Kathakali (India), Butoh (Japan) and Commedia dell’arte (Italy).<\/p>\n
The International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival seeks to bring together the academic and art worlds in Diyarbak\u0131r and transform the city into one of the international platforms in the field of culture and art.<\/p>\n
The festival, which was first held in 2023, attracted great attention in the national and international press and documentaries and short films were submitted to the festival from Turkey and many countries such as the U.S., Italy, Iran, Germany, Russia, and Azerbaijan among others.<\/p>\n
