\u201cThe goal of such obvious US interference in the region\u2019s affairs is to provoke the PRC (People\u2019s Republic of China) and generate a crisis in Asia to suit its own selfish interests.\u201d The report did not cite any specific contacts that Rudenko was referring to.<\/p>\n
China views democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory. The US is Taiwan\u2019s most important international backer and arms supplier, despite the lack of formal diplomatic recognition.<\/p>\n
The US State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Rudenko\u2019s remarks outside office hours.<\/p>\n
In September, President\u00a0Joe Biden\u00a0approved $567 million in military support for Taiwan. Russia responded that it was standing alongside China on Asian issues, including criticism of the US drive to extend its influence and \u201cdeliberate attempts\u201d to inflame the situation around Taiwan.<\/p>\n
China and Russia declared a \u201cno limits\u201d partnership in February 2022 when President\u00a0Vladimir Putin\u00a0visited Beijing shortly before the start of Russia’s special military operation in\u00a0Ukraine.<\/p>\n
